As usual, there’s a perfect mixture of new and experienced names making the Tracks Of The Week.
The ever-enigmatic Frank Ocean dropped his third single of the year, ‘Provider’, following ‘Chanel’ and ‘Biking’ from earlier this year. Could Frank be building towards another album, or will he continue releasing singles through his Blonded Beats 1 radio show? Time will tell, but I believe there has to be a complete project from Frank soon.
King Krule also returned with a dreamy and soulful new single, ‘Czech One’, the first music heard from him since A New Place To Drown. Interestingly, it released under his own name, Archy Marshall.
Another to make a comeback was Miguel, who put out his first music since 2015’s Wildheart with ‘Sky Walker’.
There were also multiple acts to tease their forthcoming albums with new material. Winston Surfshirt announced their debut record, Sponge Cake, and released ‘Same Same.’ Norwegian two-piece Anna Of The North dropped ‘Fire’, another single from their upcoming debut album, Lovers.
Pnau also announced their first album in five years, Changa. With the news, the band dropped three new tracks, ‘Into The Sky’, ‘Young Melody’ and ‘Control Your Body’.
Track Of The Week: Kllo – Downfall
Melbourne duo Kilo take out the Track Of The Week with their new single ‘Downfall’. Consisting of cousins Chloe Kaul and Simon Lam, Kllo create UK garage and RnB inspired beats, which is complimented sweetly by Kaul’s gentle vocals.
‘Downfall’ is the second single from Kllo’s forthcoming debut album, Backwater, following on from ‘Virtue’. The new track is yet another wonderful execution of emotionally-influenced electronica, which has quickly become the trademark of Kllo’s dynamic.
