Running Touch releases ‘Lovely’ new single, announces A Body Slow EP

Melbourne multi-instrumentalist Running Touch has today released ‘Lovely’, his first single of 2017, which will be part of his debut EP A Body Slowout March 31.

After a breakout 2015 where the mysterious producer released singles ‘What’s Best For You’ and ‘This Is Just To Say’, the 22-year-old followed it up with a massive 2016 with singles ‘Courtesy Of’ and ‘Aubrey’, which broke the triple j Hottest 200.

This year has already been extremely busy for Running Touch, as he has not only been working on his individual project, but also in the band where he first began his musical journey, Ocean Grove. The metal band released their debut album The Rhapsody Tapes, which was featured on triple j and debuted at #5 in the ARIA charts.

Now, with the announcement of the A Body Slow EP, Running Touch looks set to have his most prolific and successful year yet.

Speaking in self-produced mini-documentary for ‘Lovely, Running Touch shared the story behind the new track: “Something I wanted to work on in my music that is a significant weak point for me is ‘meaning’. Not that my songs lack meaning, but it’s more about trying to be more ‘objective’ rather than subjective and vague for the sake of pretty words.”

“‘Lovely’ is a compilation of stories fed from three friends and myself – it’s the first time I’ve sourced a story and I love it because they’re friends, I love the stories so it was a lot easier for me to try channel what I feel they think, or what atmosphere they would imagine for this particular song. In some cases we’ve actually been together in these stories so it’s a special feeling to immortalise that.”

Accompanying the announcement of Running Touch’s debut EP are a string of tour dates around Australia in April and May, but not before he performs at the Texas festival SXSW and shows in New York and L.A.
